Don’t miss your chance to rise to the medication safety challenge: Abstracts closing for NMS 2020 and Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting

UPDATE: 23 March 2020
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the safety and wellbeing of our meeting attendees, presenters, staff and suppliers as our highest priority, we have unfortunately had to cancel this year’s Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting. We have also decided to reschedule NMS 2020. The postponed event will take place in Sydney later in the year and we will confirm the new event details within the coming weeks. Abstract submissions close next week for the upcoming 2020 Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting and the National Medicines Symposium (NMS) 2020, to be hosted by NPS MedicineWise at the International Convention Centre Sydney on 20 and 21 May.

With the theme Empowering consumers to choose wisely, the Choosing Wisely Australia National Meeting program streams will include building consumer confidence in shared decision making, health professionals leading by example, impact of ‘the conversation’, and changing culture in organisations and systems.

The new National Health Priority Area of medicine safety will be front and centre at NMS 2020, with the theme Rising to the medication safety challenge. Program streams will include medication without harm, insights from consumer journeys, clinical innovation to meet new challenges, partnerships in health - collaborating for impact, and medicines literacy for all.

“These cross-disciplinary events bring together influential organisations, individuals and decision makers in the health sector to discuss and debate key issues around quality use of medicines and health technologies,” said NPS MedicineWise CEO Adj A/Prof Steve Morris.

“I’m pleased that the programs for both events will encourage a collaborative approach with a focus on the needs of the consumer,” said Mr Morris.

Earlybird registration is now open at $250 for each event, with discounted registration available for those who wish to attend both events.

Abstract submissions for lightning talks and posters for both events close next week on Wednesday 26 February.
