Choosing Wisely Member News June 2022

Brief updates of Choosing Wisely members, recommendations and upcoming events.

This quarter we published a new featured story showcasing how the Choosing Wisely 5 Questions helps couples navigate fertility treatments. We held three Choosing Wisely webinars, welcomed two new Champion Health Services and produced the Choosing Wisely 2021 Annual Report and a Junior Medical Officer (JMO) and Medical Student Toolkit.

New Champion Health Services

We now have 48 Champion Health Services implementing Choosing Wisely projects across Australia. We extend a warm welcome to Eurobodalla Health Services Southern NSW LHD and Northern Territory Health who are using a state-wide approach with implementing Choosing Wisely.

Prof Nola Ries presented on "Defensive practice, medico-legal risks and low value care: Insights from doctors and healthcare consumers" at the April webinar and promoted the launch of the new medico-legal risk and low value care modules.

Dr Fiona Taverner from Women's and Children's Health Network showcased their "Fast, Feed and Wrap Project" and Riley Hazard from Western Health presented on their ICU coagulation tests project at the June webinar.

Stewardship toolkit for clinical educators

The Health Resource Stewardship for Clinical educators contains educational material about the Choosing Wisely initiative for use in universities, hospitals and health professional colleges
